Nigerian Electricity Supply Corporation (Nigeria) Limited (NESCO) is a power utility company incorporated under the laws of Nigeria. Its core business is the generation, distribution, supply and retail of electricity in Plateau State and neighbouring states.
NESCO is recruiting qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Lead, Operations and Maintenance (Distribution) at its head office in Bukuru, Plateau State.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of efficient and cost-effective electricity distribution services. The role involves managing network operations, developing maintenance programmes, supervising technical projects and ensuring reliable power distribution while maintaining safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical network operations and electricity distribution function, promoting teamwork and operational efficiency.
- Develop operations and maintenance strategies to ensure reliable and continuous electricity supply.
- Design and implement maintenance programmes for the power distribution network.
- Develop policies, procedures and technical standards for effective field operations.
- Prepare departmental work programmes and ensure activities are completed within established timelines.
- Ensure compliance with approved technical operating procedures to protect personnel, assets and the company’s reputation.
- Monitor regional and international developments in electricity distribution and recommend suitable technologies and practices for adoption.
- Oversee distribution-related projects, including testing and commissioning.
- Monitor compliance with Quality Management System and Occupational Health and Safety requirements, departmental operating manuals and risk assessment procedures.
- Prepare periodic operational reports for the Head of Distribution.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Head of Distribution.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Engineering degree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline, together with a COREN-accredited postgraduate diploma and a Master’s degree in the same field.
- Relevant professional certifications and registration, including COREN, as applicable.
- Four to six years of relevant professional experience, including at least three years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of electricity regulations and policies.
- Strong understanding of operations and maintenance management.
- Competence in substation planning, maintenance and operational implementation.
