Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician will support mechanical maintenance operations across the company’s poultry farms. The successful candidate will maintain farm equipment, diagnose and resolve mechanical faults, and ensure optimal equipment performance to minimise downtime and maintain uninterrupted farm operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment across poultry farms.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair feed distribution systems, conveyors, pumps, fans, winches, and other farm machinery.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults, equipment breakdowns, and operational defects.
- Perform routine servicing, lubrication, alignment, and replacement of worn or damaged machine components.
- Support the installation, dismantling, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify potential faults to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts usage, and equipment condition.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance procedures, workplace safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
Requirements
- OND, HND, or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in poultry farming, agriculture, or manufacturing.
- Practical knowledge of mechanical equipment, pumps, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, and power transmission systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical faults and carry out preventive maintenance.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Willingness to work on-site and respond to maintenance emergencies when required.
