Job Summary
HBM Nigeria Plc is recruiting a Draughtsman to prepare and modify mechanical, electrical, civil and structural drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) technologies. The successful candidate will lead investigations into recurring technical problems, develop engineering modifications, prepare bills of quantities and support equipment maintenance, inspection and planning activities.
The role also involves ensuring that engineering drawings are properly interpreted during construction and maintenance work, while improving equipment safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with the company’s safety and environmental policies, regulations, procedures and standard work instructions.
- Participate in plant and departmental safety initiatives.
- Lead investigations into chronic or recurring technical problems and coordinate research, design, implementation and improvement of solutions.
- Prepare mechanical, electrical, civil and structural drawings using CAD software.
- Modify existing engineering drawings to accommodate proposed improvements and enhance equipment safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the development and implementation of modifications arising from maintenance improvement activities.
- Perform the role of UCC for contracted tasks, ensuring that work is completed within the agreed scope and schedule.
- Prepare bills of quantities for engineering and construction projects.
- Supervise and monitor construction activities on-site to ensure proper interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Maintain manufacturers’ drawings and ensure plant documentation is properly organised, secure and accessible in both electronic and hard-copy formats.
- Verify that delivered items and spare parts conform to order specifications.
- Operate AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, ArchiCAD and other relevant CAD software.
- Provide support to inspectors and planners when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3–5 years of relevant work experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with rotating machinery, equipment maintenance and condition monitoring in a refinery, power plant or heavy-process industry.
- Good knowledge of cement plant equipment.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email applications.
- Excellent management, organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project plans simultaneously and achieve short- and long-term objectives.
- Ability to motivate individuals and teams.
- Ability to coach and direct a diverse team.
