About the Role
The Warehouse Officer is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of warehouses and distribution points. The successful candidate will manage inventory, maintain accurate records, ensure safe storage and dispatch of commodities, and help keep warehouse operations organised and efficient.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and electronic inventory records, including stock cards and ledgers.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts to reconcile stock records and identify discrepancies, losses, or damages.
- Oversee the safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of commodities in line with established procedures and donor policies.
- Implement and enforce FIFO/FEFO (First-In, First-Out/First-Expired, First-Out) inventory management systems.
- Ensure proper handling, stacking, and storage of commodities to maximise space and prevent damage or contamination.
- Ensure all stored commodities comply with donor and organisational quality and storage standards.
- Monitor and implement measures to prevent spoilage, contamination, and pest infestations.
- Maintain an organised filing system for commodity-related documents and records.
- Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of warehouse equipment.
- Ensure compliance with warehouse safety and security procedures, including access control.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for timely receipt of supplies and logistics teams for efficient dispatch.
- Support commodity officers and mobilisers during distribution activities.
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in warehouse operations and/or inventory management, preferably within the commodities industry.
- Strong knowledge of commodity storage, regulatory standards, and health and safety guidelines.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Microsoft Excel for documentation and reporting.
