Summary
The Auto Technician will be responsible for carrying out vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs in line with approved service checklists, repair orders and company standards. The role requires strong diagnostic skills, attention to detail and the ability to work professionally with different vehicle makes and models.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out vehicle servicing and repairs as specified in service checklists and vehicle repair orders.
- Ensure all servicing and repair work is completed thoroughly and in accordance with good quality practices, procedures and company standards.
- Use genuine replacement parts and provide services according to approved checklists and scope of work.
- Diagnose and identify technical faults and determine the appropriate corrective measures.
- Identify the spare parts required for each assigned job.
- Ensure assigned work is completed professionally and vehicles are clean and presentable before release from the workshop.
- Maintain standard Flat Rate Time (FRT) on assigned jobs.
- Ensure compliance with safety systems and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, OND or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience as an Auto Technician or in a similar role.
- Sound knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and mechanical components.
- Ability to perform maintenance and repair tasks on a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
- Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant certifications, such as a trade test or automotive service certification, will be an added advantage.
