The Business Partner: People will provide HR and people-management support across the business, helping to drive employee engagement, performance, talent development, compliance and the effective delivery of HR processes.

Responsibilities

HR Administration

  • Manage HR processes, records, leave, benefits and disciplinary matters.
  • Support employee relations, morale, productivity and retention.
  • Deliver bi-weekly pep talks for delivery officers and workshop technicians.
  • Promote synergy among drivers, truck mates, fleet controllers and technicians.
  • Manage HR administration for full-time employees, outsourced staff and fixed-term contract employees.
  • Prepare HR data and reports.
  • Support the development of company culture and desired behaviours.
  • Provide appropriate HR solutions to business needs.
  • Coordinate with HR service providers.
  • Prepare monthly reports on employee turnover and talent resourcing.
  • Support pre-onboarding and induction activities.
  • Provide relevant data for efficiency and improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate day-to-day HR activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.

Learning and Talent Acquisition

  • Identify training needs and support the development of training plans.
  • Coordinate learning events, including sites, documentation and logistics.

Business Partnering

  • Support the HR Business Partner in aligning people strategies with business objectives.

  • Monitor HR trends and provide relevant insights.
  • Act as a change agent in the organisation.
  • Serve as an HR adviser to business leaders.
  • Support the annual HR cycle, including communications, processes and reporting.
  • Coordinate staff assignments.
  • Provide cover for the HR Business Partner when required.

Performance Management

  • Support goal setting, mid-year reviews and end-of-year performance reviews.
  • Provide guidance on performance management processes.
  • Support performance calibration exercises.

  • Support talent resourcing and the effective use of performance management tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or a related field.

Skills and Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in HR, administration or operations.
  • Experience in a factory, transport or logistics environment is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of industrial relations.
  • Experience supporting HR, administration or operations, preferably in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Knowledge of HR practices and employment laws.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Experience using HRIS platforms.
  • Understanding of HR strategy and business partnering.

Job Context

The Refrigerator & Air Conditioning Supervisor will oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems used in cold-chain logistics operations. The role ensures that all equipment operates efficiently and complies with relevant industry standards and regulations to maintain the integrity of the cold chain.

Key Performance Areas

Maintenance Oversight

  • Schedule and perform regular maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in refrigeration units and cooling systems of cold-chain trucks.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.

Temperature Control and Monitoring

  • Monitor and control temperature and humidity levels in storage facilities when vehicles return from trips to ensure required standards are met.
  • Manage temperature monitoring systems to track conditions in real time.
  • Implement corrective actions to maintain optimal temperature control.
  • Identify and troubleshoot temperature fluctuations that could compromise product integrity.
  • Monitor and maintain consistent and appropriate temperatures within cold-chain transportation vehicles.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure that refrigeration and air conditioning trucks comply with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Stay up to date with changes in regulations and best practices in cold-chain management.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on maintenance schedules, repairs and system performance.
  • Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager on the status of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and repair activities.

Energy Efficiency

  • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Implement energy-saving measures to reduce operational costs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in cold-chain refrigeration technology.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including warehouse and transportation teams, to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Continuously improve cold-chain procedures to enhance efficiency and minimise product spoilage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology or a related field.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2–5 years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a transport environment.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of customer and vehicle manufacturer specifications.
  • Understanding of ERP systems for converting notifications into work orders.
  • Experience with spare parts inventory management.
