Job Title: Import Officer
Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily reports on the status of shipments, including the expected time of arrival (ETA) and product type of each consignment.
• Monitor the movement of shipment trucks from the port to cold stores.
• Monitor exceptional issues, including short-landed containers and containers with changes in bills of lading and container numbers.
• Ensure all exchange control documents are received from clearing agents and properly reconciled.
• Process payment of customs duties.
• Reconcile the company’s Statement of Account with shipping lines and terminal operators.
• Cross-check all statutory bills and clearing expenses, including haulage costs.
• Apply for fish licences from the Federal Department of Fisheries.
• Follow up on containers discharged at the terminal but yet to be delivered to the cold store.
• Continuously follow up on logistics involved in the departure of trucks from the port to the cold store and the early return of empty containers to minimise or eliminate demurrage payments.
• File documents relating to payments made at the Head Office.
• Arrange and maintain all associated paperwork.

Qualifications

• BSc or HND in Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years’ relevant experience.
• Experience in clearing and forwarding.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
