Summary

The Workshop and Field Engineer will ensure that all maintenance and repair activities carried out in the workshop and field are properly executed, efficiently managed and aligned with established maintenance and reliability requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate maintenance work to ensure that activities are completed within established timeframes using PM module reports and fleet tracking reports.
• Oversee the day-to-day target performance of all Superintendents and report efficiency tracking to the department HOD.
• Maintain high equipment availability for operations in the field and factory cane yard.
• Closely monitor workshop activities and different types of maintenance work.
• Follow up on unresolved problems, troubleshoot maintenance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Review daily intervention and breakdown reports from all Superintendents and submit them to the HOD with final comments.
• Coordinate incoming work with existing workload while ensuring compliance with maintenance, reliability and inspection requirements.
• Monitor daily spare parts consumption and store issuance to ensure effective stock utilisation.
• Approve OEM spare parts and ensure proper handling and usage of spare parts.
• Conduct random checks on equipment to ensure proper performance.
• Inspect equipment to identify faults and malfunctions before release from the workshop.
• Supervise the inspection and day-to-day activities of mechanical Superintendents and Supervisors.
• Verify that maintenance teams are carrying out OEM-recommended maintenance activities.
• Provide mechanical section updates through the PM module and daily reports.
• Review reports and submit relevant comments to the HOD.
• Prepare mechanical resource utilisation reports.

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

• Minimum of HND or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant professional certification is an added advantage.
• 5–7 years of experience in field operations involving machinery, harvesters and heavy machinery maintenance, repair and troubleshooting in a similar role.
