Job Description
The Logistics and Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing daily depot operations and logistics activities. The role involves managing inventory, monitoring stock movements, coordinating product distribution, supervising depot staff and ensuring efficient workflows that meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
The Manager will also support supply chain optimisation, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, resolve customer and distributor issues, track key operational metrics and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily depot operations and logistics activities.
- Manage inventory levels and monitor stock movements.
- Ensure accurate documentation for all incoming and outgoing products.
- Coordinate product distribution to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
- Supervise depot staff and maintain efficient operational workflows.
- Implement and enforce health and safety standards across depot operations.
- Resolve customer and distributor enquiries and complaints.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimise supply chain performance.
- Track key operational metrics and prepare relevant reports.
- Identify opportunities for improving operational processes and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management or a related field.
- Strong stock management skills, including inventory control, stock reconciliation and warehousing practices.
- Solid operations management skills, including workflow planning, logistics coordination and process optimisation.
- Effective team management skills, including staff supervision, performance monitoring and shift scheduling.
- Good customer service skills, with the ability to handle enquiries, resolve complaints and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety practices, including compliance with safety regulations, risk assessment and safe depot operations.
- Experience in FMCG or dairy supply chains is an advantage.
- Proficiency with inventory and ERP software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
