Job Overview
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (FMN) is recruiting a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager for its Golden Penny Foods operations in Apapa, Lagos. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of HSE strategies, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement in workplace safety, employee wellbeing, and environmental protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and communicate an HSE management system aligned with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on ISO 45001:2018 standards and develop programmes to achieve occupational health and safety objectives.
- Advise management on current and emerging health, safety, and environmental legislation and recommend appropriate compliance strategies.
- Prepare and submit accurate HSE reports to plant management and the Group Health, Safety & Environment (GHSE) team.
- Analyse HSE trends and performance indicators and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Review safety rules regularly and recommend necessary updates.
- Ensure vehicle and pedestrian walkways remain unobstructed and maintain clearly marked emergency muster and fire assembly points.
- Identify HSE training needs and coordinate regular employee training programmes.
- Prepare periodic health, safety, and environmental reports.
- Conduct routine emergency drills to evaluate preparedness for potential incidents.
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent workplace injuries, minimise environmental incidents, and achieve annual HSE performance targets.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety practices and relevant national legislation.
- Proficiency in occupational health and safety risk management.
- Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. or HND in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
- NEBOSH Certificate.
- Membership of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant HSE experience in the FMCG industry.
