Taghini Foods is a traditional poultry processing company based in Ibadan, Oyo State. The company supplies fresh and frozen poultry products to wholesalers, caterers and further processors, including products suitable for Halal customers.

Job Summary

The Resident Veterinary Doctor will provide day-to-day veterinary leadership and clinical oversight across the company’s poultry farming operations. The role is responsible for ensuring optimal flock health, animal welfare, productivity, biosecurity and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage veterinary and flock health programmes.
• Implement vaccination and disease prevention programmes.
• Manage farm biosecurity and disease prevention measures.
• Control medication, vaccine and veterinary inventories.
• Monitor flock performance and production.
• Ensure appropriate poultry welfare practices.
• Handle regulatory and compliance responsibilities.
• Support the processing, food safety and cold-chain interface.
• Maintain accurate veterinary reports and documentation.
• Manage disease outbreaks and veterinary emergencies.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVSc) from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Resident Veterinary Doctor.
• Demonstrable experience managing commercial poultry flocks.
• Experience in broiler, breeder or layer production is an advantage.
• Practical experience in poultry disease diagnosis, vaccination and treatment.
• Experience in farm biosecurity and disease outbreak management.
• Experience working in commercial poultry production and processing.
