Silverado Properties is a Lagos-based real estate company involved in the construction, sale and rental of properties. The company also provides property and facility management services, as well as project design and supervision.

Job Description

Silverado Properties is seeking an organised and driven Accountant to join its growing Finance and Accounts team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day financial operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivable data.
  • Prepare bills, invoices and bank deposits.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers and ensure payments are properly accounted for and posted.
  • Perform bank reconciliations between bank statements, the general ledger and assigned clearing accounts.
  • Respond to audit enquiries and liaise with banks and auditors to clarify transactions and balances.
  • Generate financial statements and accounts receivable reports.
  • Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries.
  • Record and document financial transactions.
  • Analyse accounting information and recommend appropriate financial actions.
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
  • Audit supporting documents to substantiate financial transactions.
  • Maintain accounting controls and recommend appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Maintain secure financial records and perform database backups.
  • Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
  • Research and interpret accounting policies and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory financial and legal requirements.
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analysing and summarising financial information and trends.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in a finance role.
  • HR experience is an added advantage.
  • ICAN or ACCA certification is an advantage.
  • Experience in an NGO environment or project management is an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Strong data entry and numerical skills.
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and accounting software such as QuickBooks, ERP software or Sage 50.
  • Proficiency in English and Microsoft Office.
  • Good customer service and negotiation skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
