Assistant Branch Accountant | SIMS Nigeria Limited | Location: Amuwo Odofin, Lagos | Employment Type: Full-time

SIMS Nigeria Limited is a nationwide consumer electronics company with over three decades of experience in Nigeria. The company distributes and represents leading brands including Samsung, Panasonic, Philips, Beko and Kenwood.

Role Overview

The Assistant Branch Accountant will be responsible for branch accounting, financial controls, reconciliations and cash operations.

Key Responsibilities

GL & Controllership

  • Post and reconcile daily transactions, including bank, accounts receivable/payable and accrual accounts.
  • Support month-end closing, tax documentation, three-way matching and variance analysis.
  • Identify and escalate financial control issues.

Cash Operations

  • Receive, record, reconcile and safeguard customer and dealer payments through cash, POS and bank transfers.
  • Balance daily collections and prepare deposit and cash reports.
  • Maintain complete audit trails for cash transactions.

Fixed Assets

  • Maintain the branch fixed asset register, including tagging, depreciation, location, movements and disposals.
  • Support physical asset counts and CapEx/CWIP accounting.

Accounts Payable & Vendors

  • Verify invoices against purchase orders and goods receipts.
  • Process approved payments with proper documentation.
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and flag duplicate, incorrect or suspicious transactions.

Control & Compliance

  • Enforce segregation of duties and safeguard cash, financial records and supporting documents.
  • Support audits and compliance with corporate accounting policies.
  • Prepare monthly variance reports and escalate fraud or control issues.

Odoo Accounting

  • Process and reconcile GL, AP, Fixed Assets and POS transactions using Odoo.
  • Maintain master data, cost-centre coding and access controls.
  • Escalate system-related issues when necessary.

Service & Performance

  • Respond promptly to Finance and Head Office queries.
  • Meet reconciliation and D+5 month-end deadlines.
  • Participate in daily and weekly Finance reviews.
  • Support cash-security coverage when required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • ICAN Intermediate qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience with GL, reconciliations, accounts payable, cash management and Excel.
  • Experience using ERP or Odoo accounting systems.
  • Female candidates are most preferred.
