The University is recruiting to fill the Driver position. This opportunity is suitable for candidates seeking driving jobs and vacancies in Lagos.
Job Summary
The Driver will provide reliable and safe transportation services to staff, guests and other authorised passengers. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle, complying with traffic regulations and following the University’s operational procedures.
The role requires punctuality, discretion, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate assigned vehicles for official duties, errands and the transportation of staff and guests.
- Ensure that the assigned vehicle is clean, properly maintained and in good working condition.
- Conduct routine checks on the vehicle’s oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres and other components before use.
- Maintain accurate records of daily trips, mileage, fuel consumption and vehicle servicing.
- Comply with road safety laws and traffic regulations.
- Promptly report accidents, injuries or vehicle damage to the appropriate authority.
- Assist passengers with loading and unloading luggage or materials when required.
- Plan and follow assigned routes to ensure timely arrivals.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism during all assignments and interactions.
- Perform other driving or administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
- A valid Nigerian Driver’s Licence (Class B or higher).
- A minimum of three years’ professional driving experience, preferably in a corporate or structured organisation.
- Good knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques.
- Experience in basic vehicle maintenance is an added advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Excellent knowledge of road networks and routes.
- Strong sense of responsibility, discipline and punctuality.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work long or irregular hours when necessary.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and navigation tools is an added advantage.
- Neat personal appearance and professional conduct.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Candidates should reside within close proximity to the University.
