About the Role
Marvel Advisory is seeking an experienced, disciplined and trustworthy Accountant to join its team in Ikoyi, Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring financial transactions, preparing financial reports, supporting financial decision-making and ensuring that accounting processes are properly followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.
- Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including income, expenses, payments and receipts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Conduct bank, cash and ledger reconciliations and promptly resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely processing of transactions.
- Prepare invoices, payment schedules, expense reports and other relevant financial documents.
- Monitor cash flow and provide regular financial updates to management.
- Assist with budgeting, financial planning and expenditure monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements and internal financial policies.
- Maintain proper documentation and an organised financial filing system.
- Support internal and external audits when required.
- Identify financial discrepancies, control gaps or irregularities and escalate them appropriately.
- Provide management with accurate financial information to support business decisions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of company financial information.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant accounting experience.
- ICAN qualification or significant progress towards ICAN certification is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, discipline, accountability and discretion.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with a high level of confidentiality.
- Candidates who live within reasonable commuting distance of Ikoyi and surrounding areas are preferred.
