Job Description
Under the guidance of the DTM Programme Officer and technical supervision of the DTM Project Assistant / Senior Programme Associate, the Field Team Leader DTM will support data collection activities related to mobility tracking, registration, flow monitoring and surveys. The role involves working closely with field teams, government counterparts, partners and other relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of field data collection exercises in collaboration with government counterparts, NRSC and relevant partners.
- Coordinate effectively with DTM field staff, enumerators, key informants, partners and the Information Management team.
- Monitor DTM activities, including mobility tracking, registration, flow monitoring and surveys.
- Monitor enumerator performance and data collection quality and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Conduct rigorous quality checks to ensure accurate, consistent and standardised assessments.
- Ensure timely collection and submission of data using mobile data collection tools.
- Ensure completed questionnaires and forms are submitted to the DTM Kobo server in the required format and within deadlines.
- Support training and capacity building for enumerators and partners on DTM methodologies and tools.
- Support community engagement, mobilisation and sensitisation activities.
- Assist with the preparation of weekly and monthly field reports.
- Monitor enumerators’ attendance and timesheets in the absence of the supervisor.
- Coordinate staff deployment to the field and support arrangements for staff safety.
- Maintain compliance with data protection policies and organisational standards.
- Be available for deployment or redeployment at short notice when required.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Social Science, Geography, Information Technology, Computer Science or a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ demonstrable experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data collection and information management, preferably in conflict or natural disaster settings.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Information Management or Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in Africa.
- Experience managing or monitoring teams during data collection.
- Experience with mobile data collection technologies and GPS.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet and email applications.
- Good knowledge of the geography and culture of Yobe State, Nigeria.
- Experience with international organisations, UN agencies, INGOs or NNGOs is an advantage.
- Experience in DTM data collection is an advantage.
- Fluent English is required.
- Working knowledge of Hausa is required.
- Knowledge of other local languages is desirable.
