Job Summary
The Head, IT Audit will provide independent assurance to management on IT general controls, information systems security and compliance with internal policies and procedures. The successful candidate will lead IT audit planning and execution, assess technology-related risks, identify control weaknesses and recommend practical remediation measures to strengthen the organisation’s control environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide independent assurance on IT general controls and the effectiveness of information systems.
- Plan and execute information systems audit programmes in line with recognised professional standards and best practices.
- Monitor compliance with internal policies, procedures and documentation requirements across business operations.
- Incorporate established audit principles, standards and processes into audit planning and execution.
- Review technology-related risks and develop appropriate remediation plans for identified control weaknesses.
- Build effective relationships with audit clients and provide practical recommendations that support business objectives.
- Audit database management systems, enterprise network security, device configurations, antivirus solutions, system patches and log management.
- Review software development life cycles, project management implementation and change management procedures.
- Assess data encryption processes, key management lifecycles, operating systems and the physical and logical security of cardholder environments.
- Audit Active Directory, operating systems, data backup processes and tape management.
- Evaluate IT systems and general controls, recommending practical and value-adding corrective actions.
- Prepare audit reports highlighting significant control weaknesses, associated risks and potential business impacts.
- Participate in multiple risk assessment and audit engagements.
- Discuss audit findings with relevant stakeholders and develop business-focused recommendations to address control gaps.
- Contribute to departmental training, development initiatives and other internal projects.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team while maintaining departmental quality standards.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT auditing or a similar role.
- A strong understanding of key technology controls and general controls across enterprise applications and information systems.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor or related qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of IT risk management, information systems security, audit procedures and control assessment.
- Ability to identify control weaknesses, prepare audit reports and recommend effective remediation measures.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
