Job Overview
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (FMN) is recruiting a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer for its Golden Penny Foods plant in Apapa, Lagos. The successful candidate will facilitate compliance with health, safety, and environmental objectives while ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements to prevent workplace injuries and maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and communicate HSE management systems in line with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 requirements.
- Provide timely guidance on occupational health and safety standards.
- Develop programmes and action plans to achieve HSE objectives.
- Implement management strategies to prevent workplace injuries and environmental incidents.
- Supervise the plant’s Health, Safety, and Environment programmes.
- Facilitate internal audits of safety management systems.
- Promote compliance with health, environmental, and safety policies among employees.
- Review safety rules regularly and recommend improvements where necessary.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practices and relevant national legislation.
- Proficiency in occupational health and safety risk management.
- Ability to develop and implement effective HSE programmes.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. or HND in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
- NEBOSH Certificate.
- Membership of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant HSE experience in the FMCG industry.
- Occupational Health & Safety qualification (HSE Level 3).
