Housekeeping Officer

Location: Victoria Island, Marina, Lagos

Job Summary

The Housekeeping Officer will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment across the building and its surrounding areas. The role involves supervising and coordinating cleaning staff and gardeners, conducting daily inspections and walk-rounds, monitoring housekeeping standards, managing cleaning and hygiene supplies, and ensuring prompt follow-up on maintenance and tenant Helpdesk requests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resume work on time and maintain punctuality.
  • Ensure that surrounding work areas are clean, tidy, and well maintained.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety rules.
  • Conduct daily routine checks around the building and store to ensure required safety measures are in place.
  • Ensure assigned PPE is properly used.
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming, and tidy environment for staff and visitors.
  • Ensure the economical and safe use of cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Ensure toilets, bathrooms, and other sanitary areas are kept clean, hygienic, and properly sanitised.
  • Report faulty or malfunctioning equipment to the Helpdesk and Maintenance Team.
  • Liaise with staff members and visitors regarding cleaning requests and related requirements.
  • Monitor tenant emails and respond or coordinate appropriately.
  • Monitor Helpdesk tickets raised by tenants and ensure proper follow-up until closure.
  • Conduct daily walk-rounds of the floors to check lighting, air-conditioning, general cleanliness, and the Kings College car park.
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of gardens, including flowers, grass, trees, and other landscaping areas.
  • Prepare and arrange rooms for meetings, seminars, and other events, including snacks and lunch as requested.
  • Assist with the dispensing, monitoring, and management of office consumables such as hand wash, sanitiser, soap, and related items.
  • Organise, supervise, and coordinate the activities of cleaning staff.
  • Organise and coordinate appropriate training for cleaning staff to improve performance and service delivery.
  • Ensure waste is regularly removed by LAWMA to maintain a clean and neat compound.
  • Participate in Facilities performance monitoring, evaluation, and development review activities.
  • Attend team meetings, training sessions, and other relevant programmes.
  • Provide support to other team members when required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by superior officers.

Requirements

  • HND or B.Sc. Degree in a relevant field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Similar experience in a high-rise building will be an added advantage.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
