Food Concepts commenced operations in 2001 with the aim of revolutionising the food sector in West Africa. Its subsidiary, Chicken Republic, launched in 2004 and has grown into a leading chicken quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand in Nigeria and Ghana.
Job Purpose
The Internal Control Associate will ensure compliance with organisational processes, procedures and policies while providing internal control support to Chicken Republic stores.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure internal control documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Monitor compliance with organisational processes, procedures and policies.
- Verify and maintain internal control checks and records, including asset tags, to safeguard company assets.
- Track cash advances and ensure timely retirement.
- Create and maintain an error log closure register to ensure identified documentation errors are corrected and closed.
- Review imprest and liaise with stores regarding irregularities where necessary.
- Conduct monthly physical verification of stocks and assets.
- Vouch and verify payment vouchers for approval, completeness and accuracy.
- Supervise receipt of goods from suppliers and certify Goods Received Notes (GRNs).
- Review administrative operations, including administration and maintenance.
- Ensure necessary corrections are made and vouchers are properly authenticated.
- Review prepaid expense retirement.
- Conduct call-over of SCD-Finance and finance postings on SAP.
- Conduct due diligence and pricing reviews.
- Ensure all internal control registers are updated and closed daily.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the HOD.
Key Performance Indicators
- Time between occurrence and reporting of internal control deficiencies.
- Number of internal control improvement initiatives.
- Number of internal control breaches.
- Proactive identification and response to business priorities and key controls.
- Timely submission of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Prompt implementation of corrective actions with employees and managers.
Knowledge Requirements
- Financial accounting skills.
- Strong knowledge of audit procedures.
Job Specifications
- A good First Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Membership of ICAN, CITN, ACCA, CIS or another relevant professional body is an added advantage.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a similar role.
