Job Summary

The Inventory Manager will oversee stock levels, coordinate procurement and optimise storage to meet operational needs. The role involves managing the supply cycle, monitoring finished sugar and molasses stock, and overseeing weighbridge functions for cane and finished sugar.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide leadership within the Material Management Department.
• Supervise, hire and train warehouse staff and inventory clerks.
• Review the daily queue of submitted purchase requisitions (PRs).
• Verify purchase requisition details, including quantities, specifications and estimated costs.
• Perform budget checks and ensure compliance with company purchasing policies.
• Verify whether requested items are already available in stock.
• Identify overstock situations and optimise reorder points to reduce inventory costs.
• Handle stock planning and forecasting, inventory control and auditing.
• Evaluate incoming requests for clarity, justification and compliance with budget requirements.
• Prepare and maintain stock count reports covering daily, weekly, monthly and annual stock count activities.
• Oversee warehouse and storage operations.
• Monitor finished sugar and molasses inventory.
• Manage weighbridge functions relating to cane and finished sugar.

Educational Qualification and Work Experience

• Minimum of B.Sc. in Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Relevant professional certification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience in inventory management within a manufacturing industry.
