YEDC is licensed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to distribute and sell electricity to customers across Adamawa, Borno, Taraba and Yobe States. Its franchise areas are supported by transmission stations located across the region.The company was first privatized on November 1, 2013, before being handed back to the Federal Government of Nigeria following the declaration of force majeure by the first investors. On January 1, 2022, Quest Electricity Nigeria Limited took over as the core investor in YEDC.Under its current ownership, YEDC is focused on rebuilding and upgrading its electricity distribution infrastructure, expanding its network, adopting smart technologies and reducing ATC&C losses while improving customer service.
