Job Description
The Legal Officer will provide legal support and advisory services to SFH, including corporate governance, contract management, regulatory compliance, legal research, company secretarial functions and litigation-related matters.
The successful candidate will work with various departments and stakeholders to ensure that SFH’s contractual, corporate and regulatory obligations are properly managed.
Requirements
- A minimum of an LLB and BL is required.
- At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience advising different clients, including corporate entities, government and regulatory agencies, and individuals.
- Excellent legal drafting and communication skills, demonstrated through experience working with varied clients.
- Experience managing company secretarial functions, including taking minutes and making filings with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
- Demonstrated ability to manage compliance interactions with different regulatory agencies.
- Experience advising on and handling matters before different courts for multiple clients.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to draft legal documents, including contracts, bids, leases, sub-awards and various litigation documents, using clear and appropriate legal terminology.
- Ability to systematically and efficiently manage contract creation and execution to support business, financial and operational performance.
- Ability to prepare board documents and memoranda, take minutes, make necessary filings with the Corporate Affairs Commission and advise on governance and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong legal research skills, with the ability to identify relevant laws and apply them to everyday and critical legal issues.
- Ability to manage aspects of court-related matters.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments to support SFH’s contractual and regulatory compliance obligations.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial and corporate law, including organisational operations, restructuring and governance.
- Ability to translate legal knowledge into practical advice for the Board and Management and support effective organisational decision-making.
