Job Summary

The Market Officer will oversee day-to-day POS operations within an assigned market while maintaining accountability for POS inventory under their custody.

The role serves as the primary point of contact for merchants and aggregators on POS-related activities, including terminal activation, account linking, swaps, retrievals and replacements. The successful candidate will manage the complete lifecycle of POS terminals, from receipt and deployment through retrieval, reconciliation and return, while ensuring inventory accuracy, operational compliance and a positive merchant experience.

Key Responsibilities

Market Operations

  • Handle POS terminal requests, activations, account linking and onboarding for merchants and aggregators.
  • Coordinate POS swaps, replacements, repairs and retrievals in accordance with company policies and service level agreements.
  • Provide frontline support for POS-related enquiries and escalate technical issues when necessary.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with merchants and aggregators to ensure timely issue resolution and high customer satisfaction.

Inventory and Asset Management

  • Receive, record, safeguard and manage all POS terminals assigned to the market.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including serial numbers, dispatches, deployments, swaps, returns, repairs and damaged devices.
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly inventory reconciliations to ensure complete asset accountability.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse, Logistics and Central Operations teams on POS dispatches, returns and stock replenishment.
  • Investigate and promptly report inventory discrepancies, losses or damaged terminals.
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for every POS inventory movement.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate operational and inventory records.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational and inventory reports.
  • Monitor key operational metrics, inventory utilisation and market performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, inventory control procedures and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of HND or Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in POS operations, inventory or asset management, field operations, merchant support, logistics or operations.
  • Experience within a FinTech, financial services, FMCG, telecommunications, logistics or other fast-paced organisation is an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience managing POS terminals or other high-value operational assets, including inventory tracking, deployment, reconciliation and retrieval.
  • Experience supporting merchants, agents or customers and resolving operational issues within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Good understanding of inventory control principles, stock reconciliation, asset accountability and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, filtering and data validation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using inventory management systems, ERP platforms or operational tracking tools is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, record-keeping and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • High level of integrity, accountability and commitment to safeguarding company assets.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned market and perform field-based operational activities when required.
