Job Summary
Dangote Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer – Power Plant to oversee the maintenance of power plant equipment at its Ibese Plant in Ogun State.
The successful candidate will plan, schedule and supervise predictive, preventive, corrective and overhaul maintenance activities covering electric generating equipment, steam-producing systems, material handling equipment, rolling stock and associated plant machinery. The role is critical to ensuring reliable, safe, environmentally compliant and efficient plant operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule and manage preventive and predictive maintenance of gas turbines and associated Balance of Plant equipment in line with equipment requirements, performance records, safety standards and industry best practices.
- Ensure turbine swaps and 4,000-hour running turbine inspections are properly executed within the stipulated timeframes.
- Review and improve maintenance processes while ensuring maintenance personnel receive appropriate training and comply with established procedures and standards.
- Manage the consistent implementation and technical accuracy of a comprehensive maintenance programme, including forecasting manpower requirements and equipment needs for both short-term and long-term operations.
- Evaluate, schedule and budget maintenance activities, recommending improvements to optimise maintenance costs, work quality, equipment availability and outage time.
- Maintain records and ensure compliance with NIS ISO 9001:2015, NIS ISO 14001:2015 and NIS ISO 18001:2007 requirements.
- Enforce accident prevention measures and occupational health and safety procedures.
- Ensure the proper safekeeping of materials, tools and equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- 6–8 years of industrial experience.
- In-depth knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical maintenance in a cement plant.
- Good understanding of safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
