About the Role
Dangote Industries Limited is seeking a Mechanical Technician to perform fabrication, installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment, instruments, and structures within the plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaise with Shift Technicians to identify problematic equipment and carry out repairs promptly.
- Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance.
- Execute corrective maintenance on assigned equipment and machines.
- Ensure safety precautions are observed and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is used.
- Take weekly inventory of working tools and ensure they match the original tool list.
- Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments.
- Replace minor fixtures on plant machinery.
- Participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programmes.
- Enter data relating to spares and consumables into ERP systems such as SAP.
- Clean operating equipment regularly to ensure effective performance.
- Maintain tools and equipment properly.
- Ensure maintenance work is carried out according to the preventive maintenance (PM) schedule.
- Report equipment breakdowns or stoppages lasting more than 30 minutes to sectional engineers.
- Carry out brief analyses of equipment breakdowns.
- Ensure equipment under maintenance remains operational until the next scheduled PM date.
- Respond to breakdowns within the shortest possible time.
- Complete daily maintenance checklists and file them properly.
- Remove all scrap materials after maintenance activities.
- Identify potential environmental, occupational health, and safety (OHS) hazards.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience
Candidates should possess one of the following:
- SSCE with 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Trade Test I in a mechanical-related trade with 8 years of relevant work experience.
- Trade Test II in a mechanical-related trade with 16 years of relevant work experience.
- OND in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of relevant work experience.
Skills and Competencies
- Basic knowledge of the cement production process.
- In-depth knowledge of cement packing machines, their functions, and operating procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment accurately and efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good relationship management skills.
