Job Title: Mechanical Technician

Job Purpose
The Mechanical Technician will ensure that routine maintenance and planned preventive maintenance activities on machines are carried out strictly and on time to support the smooth and efficient operation of plant equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the smooth operation of valves, pressure gauges, electric motors and pumps.
- Carry out routine lubrication of pumps, gearboxes, couplings and other mechanical components according to the approved plan.
- Report daily activities to the Line Manager and Shift Coordinator to ensure the smooth running of machines and equipment.
- Strictly adhere to safe work procedures during repair and maintenance activities.
- Carry out daily and periodic checks on pumps, bolts and nuts to prevent misalignment of moving parts.
- Attend to unusual conditions affecting moving parts, including conveyors, and resolve issues promptly before they escalate.
- Ensure the safety of self and others while carrying out assigned duties.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Management System (FSMS) requirements within the assigned work process.
- Understand the company’s food safety policy, objectives and the benefits of an improved food safety management system.
- Remain aware of identified food safety risks, opportunities and consequences associated with departmental and work processes in relation to FSMS requirements.
Requirements
- Trade Test 1, 2 and 3.
- Minimum of three years’ cognate experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment.

- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
