Job Description
HBM Nigeria is recruiting for the position of Plant Planner in Mfamosing. The role is responsible for validating plant production data, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and supporting operational excellence through benchmarking and performance tracking.
The successful candidate will develop accurate production and volume forecasts to support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), prevent supply disruptions, improve cost efficiency, maximize plant output, and enhance operational reliability across maintenance and production functions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and control the entire plant production plan.
- Maintain the industrial statistical database and collate daily, monthly and yearly production statistics and reports.
- Monitor and reconcile production stocks, including raw materials, semi-products, fuels, AFR and finished goods.
- Align production plans with business targets, sales forecasts and plant capacity.
- Plan for the optimal utilization of major plant assets, including crushers, raw mills, kilns, cement mills and cement packers.
- Ensure compliance with Huaxin site safety procedures.
- Organize Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities and assist the Plant Manager with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly operational strategies.
- Analyse variable costs and support initiatives aimed at improving industrial consumption and efficiency.
- Work with the Plant Controller on month-end closing and bulk material stock-taking.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to ensure adequate stocks of raw materials, fuels, AFRs, cement bags, explosives and production consumables.
- Align production plans with preventive maintenance and major shutdown schedules.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to maximize equipment availability and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Collaborate with the RCA champion to ensure triggered RCAs are completed and action plans are properly tracked.
- Review W+1 production plans with Production and Maintenance Managers and monitor daily performance against committed targets.
- Assist the Plant Manager with industrial KPI reviews involving the CEO and COO and provide cover when the Plant Manager is absent.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure major repairs, overhauls and kiln shutdowns are delivered on schedule.
- Oversee plant action plans and follow up for timely closure.
- Prepare the annual production plan and corresponding KPIs.
- Conduct cost and performance benchmarking with best-in-class Huaxin plants and identify actions to close performance gaps.
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, preferably Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 10–12 years of relevant experience in a cement factory, preferably in production, process or quality.
- Strong analytical and planning skills.
- Good knowledge of safety laws and regulations.
- Financial and budget management capabilities.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multi-plant or large-scale operations.
