Description
Myrtle Management Consultants is recruiting for the position of Project Coordinator (LPG Distribution). The Project Coordinator will support the Project Management team in the operationalisation of the “Decade of Gas” initiative, a Federal Government of Nigeria programme aimed at transforming the nation into a gas-based economy.
The role will focus on accelerating the transition from traditional fuels such as firewood and kerosene to cleaner Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The successful candidate will coordinate the refilling and nationwide distribution of 3,000 units of 3kg LPG cylinders across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT, while ensuring logistics, regulatory compliance, safety, and communication between supply partners, distribution hubs, and management.
Key Responsibilities
Initiation & Regulatory Alignment
- Coordinate with supply partners, including Rainoil and Techno, to finalise partnerships and bulk LPG acquisition.
- Verify and acquire necessary NMDPRA secondary operational permits for storage, transport, and safety.
Sourcing & Infrastructure Readiness
- Oversee the procurement and vetting of 3,000 units of 3kg cylinders to meet technical specifications.
- Facilitate audit and compliance reviews to ensure alignment with internal procurement policies.
Operational Blueprinting
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for refilling, quality control, and hazardous material handling.
- Support the establishment of an HSE Management System specific to LPG risks.
Execution & Distribution
- Manage the nationwide logistics workflow and bridging via Road Tanker Trucks (RATTs).
- Perform continuous financial monitoring of monthly cash outflows against projections using Zoho Books.
Monitoring & Scale-up
- Manage the item-tagging process and nationwide inventory tracking to minimise loss.
- Gather industry intelligence and produce quarterly reports (IIR) to support management decision-making.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Compliance
All personnel and operations must strictly adhere to hazardous material handling protocols, including:
- Mandatory PPE: Antistatic/flame-retardant (FR) clothing, safety boots, high-visibility vests, nitrile gloves, and eye protection during refilling.
- Handling Protocols: Mandatory leak testing before and after transfer, strict adherence to 3kg fill pressure, and maintenance of 30-metre hazard zones free from ignition sources.
- Spark Prevention & Grounding: Use of non-ferrous, spark-proof tools for maintenance and effective grounding of all RATTs and transfer equipment.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MSc or PMP certification is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project coordination.
- At least 2 years’ experience in the Oil and Gas or LPG sector.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project and Primavera P6.
- Experience with financial tracking tools such as Zoho Books.
- Expertise in document control and HSE management systems.
- Extensive experience liaising with regulatory bodies such as NMDPRA, NCDMB, and FMEnv.
- Proficiency in stakeholder management and data-driven industry intelligence reporting.
