Mission Objective
The Registered Nurse will provide direct and indirect patient care across various nursing units and during scheduled home visits. The role is responsible for professional nursing performance and the delivery of safe, patient-centred care.
The nurse will carry out patient assessment, diagnosis, care planning, intervention, evaluation and coordination of care across the healthcare continuum, working collaboratively with patients and their families to achieve optimal health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments using appropriate, problem-focused and age-specific assessment techniques.
- Analyse assessment data, determine appropriate nursing interventions and establish priorities based on patient needs.
- Formulate, implement and evaluate individualised patient care plans.
- Provide emotional support and appropriate measures to alleviate fear and anxiety.
- Assess patients and families for readiness to learn and identify their healthcare education needs.
- Participate in voluntary community health activities aimed at promoting, maintaining and restoring health and preventing diseases.
- Provide basic life support when required.
- Document relevant patient information accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Administer medications, monitor desirable and undesirable effects and intervene appropriately.
- Recognise subtle patient cues and anticipate potential problems.
- Travel to patients’ homes to provide care as required.
- Manage patients with infectious diseases where applicable.
- Attend home-care visits during scheduled on-call shifts.
- Perform clerical duties when required.
- Ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition.
- Manage paediatric patients with infectious diseases when applicable.
Requirements
Interested candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Current clinical experience in direct patient care.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct patient-care experience within the last 3 years.
- At least 3 years of postgraduate nursing experience in an accredited university teaching hospital, Federal Medical Centre or international hospital.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited nursing college or university, with high distinction (top 10% of graduating class).
- Current nursing licence to practise in Nigeria.
