About the Role
Paystack is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to support the development of a world-class financial reporting and control function across Nigeria and its expansion markets.
The successful candidate will ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial reporting while building scalable processes that support the company’s growth.
The role involves working closely with Finance, Treasury, Risk, Product and Operations teams to deliver financial insights, maintain strong internal controls and ensure efficient month-end close processes across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts across Nigeria and expansion entities, including full Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reviews.
- Drive the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting while improving close efficiency.
- Lead balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances promptly.
- Manage complex reconciliations across bank accounts, intercompany balances and operational accounts.
- Oversee bank statement validation, reconciliation and issue resolution across multiple banking partners.
- Identify and resolve missing transactions, delayed statements and reconciliation breaks.
- Prepare monthly cash reports to provide visibility into cash positions.
- Prepare and maintain intercompany schedules and ensure accurate reconciliation and elimination across entities.
- Align financial reporting with group requirements and global accounting standards.
- Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded in Oracle ERP Cloud and other accounting systems.
- Review and approve journal entries while maintaining appropriate documentation and internal controls.
- Lead audit preparation by developing schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Act as a key contact for auditors and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.
- Analyse revenue, cost drivers and overall business performance.
- Prepare P&L flux, net revenue and variance analyses to support management decision-making.
- Identify inefficiencies in reporting and reconciliation workflows and implement process improvements.
- Drive automation and standardisation across entities.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Product, Operations and other teams to resolve financial issues and support new initiatives.
- Strengthen financial controls, improve reporting timelines and proactively identify and mitigate financial risks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance or commercial finance roles.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, including P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow analysis.
- Proven experience managing month-end close processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle ERP Cloud.
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple entities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience in fintech, payments or financial services.
- Exposure to multi-country or expansion-market reporting.
- Familiarity with US GAAP and/or IFRS reporting standards.
- Experience handling large-scale reconciliations and banking operations.
- Knowledge of Metabase, Tableau or SQL for financial analysis.
- Proven experience improving financial processes and reducing reporting timelines.
