Role Overview
This is a builder role for an experienced finance professional who can create and strengthen financial systems rather than simply work within existing processes.
The Senior Associate, Finance will lead financial reporting that meets Nigerian regulatory requirements and international standards, build effective internal controls, support audit readiness, and provide financial insight to help leadership make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports that meet Nigerian regulatory standards and the reporting requirements of international donors and investors.
- Own the month-end and year-end financial close processes, with a focus on improving speed and accuracy.
- Partner with the Head of Finance and senior leadership to translate financial data into actionable insights for capital deployment, operational priorities and growth strategy.
- Proactively identify financial trends, risks and opportunities and communicate them to leadership.
- Design and strengthen internal controls to reduce errors, prevent compliance breaches and ensure readiness for external audits.
- Build and document financial processes that are repeatable, resilient and less dependent on institutional knowledge.
- Build and develop a small reporting team capable of managing the function with rigour and consistency.
- Help establish a reporting framework that satisfies Nigerian regulatory requirements alongside international donor and investor standards.
- Improve the speed at which financial information is made available to leadership for decision-making.
- Provide financial judgement and insights that support decisions affecting the organisation and smallholder farmers.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting or audit, including experience in a senior or managerial capacity.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience reporting under Nigerian GAAP/local accounting standards and IFRS or donor-aligned international standards.
- Strong experience designing or strengthening internal controls.
- Experience managing or mentoring a team.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical financial information into practical business insights.
- Familiarity with financial systems and reporting tools beyond Excel.
- Experience working in a fast-scaling, decentralised or multi-site organisation.
