OPSL Capital Ventures Limited is recruiting a Strategy and Planning Analyst on behalf of its client in the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will support strategic planning, performance management, corporate budgeting, business intelligence and corporate development to drive business growth and improve organisational performance.
OPSL is a Nigerian HR consulting and venture capital firm based in Lagos. Its services include recruitment, payroll administration, procurement management, HR consultancy and capital investment.
Job Summary
The Strategy and Planning Analyst will support the execution and monitoring of the organisation’s strategic framework and corporate growth agenda. Reporting to the Head of Group Strategy, the successful candidate will contribute to performance analysis, strategic planning, financial forecasting, market research, risk assessment and corporate development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain corporate scorecards, key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance dashboards.
- Monitor corporate and departmental performance, prepare periodic reports and identify performance gaps.
- Conduct variance analysis, identify emerging risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Finance to align strategic and financial performance indicators.
- Prepare performance reports and presentations for quarterly reviews and Board Strategy Committee meetings.
- Support the development of the five-year corporate strategy and annual operating plan.
- Prepare planning templates, alignment tools and performance management frameworks.
- Track strategic initiatives, monitor implementation progress and escalate risks.
- Support the development of Balanced Scorecards, Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSMs), and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Conduct market research, industry benchmarking and competitor analysis.
- Monitor macroeconomic, regulatory and industry trends across oil and gas, trading, renewable energy and mining.
- Provide business intelligence to support executive and Board decision-making.
- Assist with annual budgets, rolling forecasts and financial modelling.
- Conduct scenario analysis, stress testing and forecast accuracy reviews.
- Support Board and investor submissions in collaboration with Finance.
- Provide analytical and research support for strategy management and corporate development activities.
- Support the implementation of new frameworks, processes and performance management tools.
- Prepare presentations for Board, Executive Committee and Strategy Committee meetings.
- Assist in communicating corporate strategy, performance outcomes and corporate development updates.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related field.
- Four to five years of experience in strategy, consulting, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), market research or analytics.
- An MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification is an advantage.
- Experience in the oil and gas, energy or related industries is desirable.
- Exposure to strategic planning, performance reporting and financial planning cycles.
- Experience preparing reports and presentations for senior management or Board members is preferred.
- Ability to provide structured analysis and decision support to senior leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- High adaptability and willingness to learn.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
