Job Summary
The Supply Chain Officer will be responsible for supply chain operations at the sub-office, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement and delivery of goods and services, as well as effective warehousing, stock and fleet management.
The role reports to the Supply Chain Coordinator and has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee procurement requirements and ensure compliance with approved procurement procedures.
- Check local market availability and prices and coordinate with the country office where necessary.
- Prepare and maintain procurement trackers, contract trackers and outstanding requisition reports.
- Monitor procurement and logistics costs to ensure spending remains within approved budgets.
- Prepare regular procurement and logistics reports, highlighting operational challenges and proposed solutions.
- Oversee arrangements for meetings and conferences.
- Ensure procurement, logistics and supply chain activities comply with safeguarding policies.
- Maintain communication systems and ensure field staff are trained in their effective use.
- Report security incidents through the appropriate channels.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained securely.
- Maintain contact databases and organised electronic and manual filing systems.
- Work closely with finance and administration teams to ensure effective operations.
- Perform other duties assigned by the line manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
- Minimum of three years’ post-NYSC relevant experience in supply, procurement, contracting or related technical fields.
- Experience in international procurement and contract management.
- Experience in logistics for international NGOs, particularly in international development and emergency programmes.
- Knowledge of key institutional donors and their logistics and procurement compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to analyse and resolve complex operational issues.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and travel at short notice during emergencies.
- Commitment to Save the Children’s values.
- CIPS qualification will be an added advantage.
- Basic people management skills.
