Job Description

The Temple Facilities Manager 2 will oversee the maintenance and operation of one temple and/or up to four smaller temples. The role involves functional leadership of facilities employees, including Assistant Facilities Managers, custodial, grounds and security teams.

The successful candidate will also oversee capital expenditure and renovation projects involving facilities, systems and grounds, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, schedules and established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage employees across facilities, custodial, grounds and security functions.
  • Typically manage 10 to 20 employees, including two or more supervisors.
  • Work with Human Resources on recruitment, termination, promotion and other employee status changes.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the temple and associated buildings covering approximately 70,000 square feet.
  • Maintain established facility standards during peak usage and when the temple is closed.
  • Manage relationships and expectations of key stakeholders.
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring to Temple Facilities Services employees.
  • Implement temple maintenance guides and materials and evaluate improved maintenance methods, systems and equipment.
  • Develop and execute complex annual plans covering operations, maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Oversee electrical, mechanical, audio-visual and computer systems.
  • Manage department labour costs, including contract and employee labour.
  • Manage relationships with third-party service providers.
  • Lead capital expenditure and renovation projects, including inspections, reporting, permitting and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure projects are completed within approved timelines.
  • Coordinate the delivery and installation of furniture and materials.
  • Ensure projects comply with design documents and established standards.
  • Participate in project close-out procedures, including as-built drawings, archiving, warranties and substantial completion documentation.
  • Communicate with the Temple President, Priesthood leaders, supervisors, department specialists, local government authorities, architects, general contractors and local leaders as required.
  • Provide regular reports on project progress, quality, issues and procurement.
  • Ensure the temple reflects the beauty, cleanliness and sacred nature of the temple experience.

Qualifications

Required

  • A four-year degree in Facilities Management, Building Industry, Project Management or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • At least six years of experience in facilities management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered, with a total of ten years of combined education and experience.
  • Broad understanding of facilities systems and processes, including boiler and chiller operations, electrical motor controls, audio-visual systems, electrical distribution and plumbing systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Ability to speak and write professional business English.
  • Professional appearance and demeanour.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including sitting for extended periods and working with computer equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A valid driver’s licence and more than one year of driving experience.
  • A current passport and other required travel documents.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a temple.

Applicants must be an endowed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a current temple recommend.
