Job Description
HBM Nigeria Plc. is seeking a Transport Executive to oversee the safe and efficient transportation of cement from its plants and depots to customers’ delivery locations. The successful candidate will coordinate transporters and drivers, ensure timely deliveries, manage logistics performance, and maintain excellent service standards for distributors and other customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate transport operations to ensure the availability of suitable transportation for moving products from shipping points to designated delivery locations.
- Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to implement transportation strategies and achieve logistics objectives.
- Manage daily fleet availability and ensure drivers and logistics service providers (LSPs) are prepared to support product distribution.
- Evaluate the performance of contracted LSPs against contractual obligations and agreed key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Serve as the main point of contact for delivery-related issues, ensuring timely deliveries and effective management of customer expectations.
- Secure transport capacity and monitor shipments in real time using GPS and In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS) tools.
- Identify and implement timely solutions to delivery challenges within approved cost structures.
- Execute transportation initiatives aimed at achieving cost reductions and savings targets.
- Support the development of LSP operational capabilities to meet company standards and expectations.
- Prepare and submit data-driven reports and dashboards to track performance against KPIs, including on-time, in-full (OTIF), GIGO/CICO, and lead times.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, improved transport performance, and continuous operational improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in a relevant discipline.
- At least three years of related experience, with demonstrated leadership and operational experience.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
