Job Summary
The Vehicle Inspection Officer will inspect company vehicles before and after maintenance to ensure that repairs have been properly completed and that vehicles meet required safety, quality, and roadworthiness standards. The role will also maintain inspection documentation and support compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles when they arrive at the workshop and before they are released.
- Complete vehicle inspection checklists and maintain accurate records.
- Verify the quality of completed repairs and confirm that reported faults have been resolved.
- Ensure vehicles meet required safety and roadworthiness standards before release.
- Identify defects requiring additional repairs and communicate findings to the workshop team.
- Maintain inspection records, reports, and relevant compliance documentation.
- Ensure inspection documents are current and readily available for audits.
- Monitor adherence to company vehicle inspection procedures.
- Track recurring vehicle defects and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Fleet Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
Interested candidates should possess:
- OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Transport Management, or a related discipline.
- Certification in Vehicle Inspection or Automotive Maintenance is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in vehicle inspection, automotive maintenance, fleet operations, or a related role.
- Good knowledge of vehicle mechanics and diagnostic procedures.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety and roadworthiness requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Good report-writing and documentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
