Job Summary
The HSE Officer – Fleet Workshop will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy working environment within the company’s Fleet Workshop. The role involves monitoring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements, identifying workplace hazards, preventing incidents, and supporting the development of a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and applicable statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular HSE inspections and workplace risk assessments within the Fleet Workshop.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and follow up on corrective actions.
- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with safety procedures.
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of oils, chemicals, batteries, tyres, and other hazardous materials.
- Inspect workshop equipment and promote safe operating practices.
- Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness programmes.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, and incident logs.
- Support internal and external HSE audits and ensure identified findings are addressed promptly.
- Monitor fire prevention arrangements and ensure emergency equipment and first aid facilities are available and functional.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Fleet Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
Interested candidates should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or an equivalent HSE certification.
- ISPON membership is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years’ HSE experience in an automotive workshop, fleet operations, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Good knowledge of HSE regulations and workshop safety practices.
- Strong skills in risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to promote safe working practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
