Vitafoam Nigeria is recruiting qualified and experienced professionals to fill the position of Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance at its Jos Factory. This is an opportunity for candidates seeking quality assurance jobs and manufacturing vacancies in Nigeria.
The Role
The Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance will oversee and drive quality management systems at the Jos Factory, ensuring that raw materials, production processes and finished products meet established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Raw Material Inspection and Testing: Oversee the testing of incoming chemical raw materials, including Polyol, TDI, catalysts, blowing agents and additives, to verify purity, viscosity and moisture content before discharge into storage tanks.
- In-Process Quality Control: Monitor critical parameters during continuous and batch foaming operations, ensuring accurate chemical formulation ratios.
- Finished Goods Evaluation: Lead physical testing of cured foam blocks and finished products to verify density consistency.
- Laboratory and Equipment Calibration: Manage laboratory operations at the Jos Factory and ensure that testing equipment, scales and compression machines are properly calibrated.
- Defect Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Investigate manufacturing defects and non-conformities, including splits, bottom-scorch, early foam collapse and density drift. Implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Waste Reduction: Work with the production team to reduce cutting waste and chemical reaction variance while improving material yield without compromising quality standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or a closely related scientific discipline.
- A minimum of 5–8 years of relevant quality assurance or quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Membership of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) or Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN) will be an advantage.
- Professional certifications in Quality Management, such as ASQ CQE or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, will also be an advantage.
