Job Summary
HRM Office is recruiting on behalf of a reputable engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company that provides end-to-end solutions across the upstream and downstream oil and gas value chain.
The company is seeking an experienced Design Draftsman to join its engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mechanical and piping drafting, with the ability to support construction, instrumentation and civil drawings when required.
The successful candidate will translate engineering concepts into accurate and detailed technical drawings for oil and gas facilities, pipelines, flow stations and industrial plants. The role also involves supporting engineering design and project execution teams through the preparation of high-quality CAD drawings, layouts and technical documentation in line with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for mechanical, piping and construction works.
- Develop and update Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), piping layouts, piping isometrics, equipment layouts and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications and calculations to produce accurate technical drawings.
- Assist engineers in preparing design documentation and drawing packages for oil and gas facilities and industrial projects.
- Produce fabrication and shop drawings to support procurement and construction teams.
- Prepare and update as-built drawings based on site redline markups and project revisions.
- Coordinate drawings with mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation teams to ensure design consistency.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision histories and document control procedures.
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, client requirements and applicable engineering standards.
- Support engineering teams during design reviews and project coordination meetings.
Qualifications and Requirements
- HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Design Draftsman in oil and gas, EPC or industrial construction projects.
- Professional certification in CAD or drafting software will be an added advantage.
- Strong experience preparing mechanical and piping drawings, including P&IDs, piping isometrics, equipment layouts and plant layout drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering design software such as Plant 3D, PDMS/E3D or similar tools.
- Experience in 3D plant modelling and layout development for industrial or oil and gas facilities.
- Familiarity with oil and gas engineering standards, codes and EPC project documentation systems.
- Experience supporting flow station upgrades, pipeline projects, plant construction or fabrication yard activities.
- Basic knowledge of instrumentation and civil drawings will be an advantage.
- Ability to interpret engineering designs, technical specifications and construction drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and construction teams.
Salary
N350,000 – N500,000 per month.
