Unique Care and Support Foundation (CASFOD) is recruiting to fill the position of Education Assistant. The successful candidate will support education programmes focused on enrolling out-of-school children, promoting school retention, engaging communities and strengthening accountability in supported communities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement assigned out-of-school children projects in line with project proposals, strategies and donor requirements.
  • Contribute to baseline, midline, endline, needs and market assessments.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, collect monitoring data and track progress against output indicators.
  • Support the preparation of project reports using monitoring data.
  • Build relationships with communities and community leaders to encourage participation and ensure the principle of Do No Harm is upheld.
  • Supervise and manage teachers, including facilitating teacher training.
  • Support youth and adolescent programmes covering life skills, basic literacy and numeracy, and alternative or accelerated education.
  • Identify training needs and support the development and delivery of training programmes for teachers, Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) and School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs).
  • Facilitate the recruitment of volunteer teachers and learning facilitators.
  • Contribute to proposal and strategy development by identifying education needs and gaps.
  • Maintain regular communication with partners and stakeholders at community, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) and state levels.
  • Monitor project results and document case studies, lessons learnt, significant changes and best practices.
  • Coordinate learning and reflection meetings to improve programme delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Education or a related field.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in programme implementation.
  • Experience in strategic thinking, planning, priority setting and progress evaluation.
  • Experience working with Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) and the Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP) for out-of-school children.
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain positive professional relationships.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, sometimes under challenging conditions.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, influencing and coaching skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and relevant local languages, such as Hausa and Fulfulde.
  • Experience working in remote field locations with limited infrastructure.
  • Ability to analyse information, make informed decisions and communicate findings clearly.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong coordination and workload management skills, including the ability to handle complex and varied responsibilities.
  • Cultural awareness and excellent written and spoken communication skills.
