The company is recruiting an Electrical Technician to support the reliable operation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment within its cement production facilities.

Job Summary

The Electrical Technician will independently execute technical work requiring sound judgement in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical and instrumentation techniques, procedures and criteria applicable to cement production.

Responsibilities

Ensure the availability and reliability of electrical and instrumentation equipment required for production.
Execute predictive and preventive maintenance schedules with minimal supervision.
Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures during task execution.
Follow up with the Lead Engineer on work plan execution.
Coordinate and supervise third-party contractors.
Ensure efficient energy use within the clinker production plant and cement mills.
Ensure the safety of plant personnel and equipment and protect the environment in compliance with ISO 14001 requirements.
Comply with applicable personal safety, fire safety and industrial hygiene requirements based on HBM Group health and safety standards.

Requirements

Trade Test 3, NABTEB or City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a modern integrated cement plant or large-scale industrial environment in a similar role.
Hands-on experience with ABB and Siemens Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) / Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electric motors and their applications.
Knowledge of ABB switchgear.
Knowledge of 11KV/400V power distribution panels and Motor Control Centres (MCCs).
Knowledge of cement industrial instrumentation and control systems.
Ability to work under pressure with little or no supervision.
Good understanding of industrial electrical safety and maintenance practices.
