Job Summary

The Head of News will oversee the station’s news department, coordinate news gathering and production, and ensure that news bulletins and reports are accurate, timely and professionally presented. The successful candidate will help maintain the station’s editorial standards and deliver reliable news coverage to its audience.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operations of the news department.
• Plan and coordinate news coverage, assignments and editorial meetings.
• Oversee the preparation, editing and presentation of news bulletins.
• Ensure that news reports are accurate, balanced and properly verified before broadcast.
• Assign stories to reporters and coordinate news gathering activities.
• Monitor current affairs and identify important stories for coverage.
• Ensure compliance with professional journalism ethics and broadcasting standards.
• Work with presenters, reporters, producers and other team members to improve news output.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Candidates should possess relevant qualifications in Journalism, Mass Communication or a related field.
