Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the terminal’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System.
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits and compliance assessments, and recommend and monitor corrective actions.
- Keep up to date with emerging HSE regulations, industry standards and best practices.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions using root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
- Collaborate with employees, contractors, regulatory agencies and external partners to promote a strong safety culture.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports and documentation in line with compliance requirements.
- Deliver HSE awareness and training programmes for employees and third parties.
- Support safe terminal operations while working on a 12-hour rotational shift schedule.
Requirements
- A university degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Environmental Management, Engineering or a Health and Safety-related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Health, Safety and Environment, preferably in port operations, logistics, industrial, manufacturing or heavy equipment environments.
- NEBOSH and/or IOSH certification is highly desirable.
- Active membership of ISPON is preferred.
- Practical knowledge and experience in dangerous goods handling, emergency response, incident investigation and risk assessment.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Valid driver’s licence with the ability to operate within a dynamic port terminal environment.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a disciplined approach to regulatory compliance and operational safety.
