Job Role

Provide Tier 1 IT support and log all support issues.
Document resolutions and analyse trends to identify ways of preventing future problems.
Handle incoming support requests from end users via in-person interactions, telephone and email in a courteous and professional manner.
Prioritise and schedule support issues and escalate problems to appropriately experienced technicians when required.
Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases and frequently asked questions resources online to assist with problem resolution.
Use diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
Maintain IT inventory records.
Identify and develop knowledge of the software and hardware used and supported by the organisation.
Perform hands-on desktop-level fixes, including installing and upgrading software and hardware.
Perform preventive maintenance, including checking and cleaning workstations, printers and other peripherals.
Test fixes to ensure that reported problems have been adequately resolved.
Perform post-resolution follow-ups with users to ensure that support issues have been properly addressed.

Qualifications

Higher Education Diploma or University Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
1–3 years of working experience in an IT support role.
Microsoft, Cisco or ITIL certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Working knowledge of diagnostic utilities, including BIOS hardware testing utilities and Spiceworks Network Monitor.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning.
