The Manager – Internal OpCo Demand will support MTN OpCos with international connectivity requirements by forecasting capacity demand, pricing international connectivity, engaging cable consortia on behalf of OpCos, and serving as the central point of contact for OpCo capacity requests.

Responsibilities

  • Sell international capacity and connectivity to MTN OpCos across different infrastructure types and products, including submarine connectivity, satellite, and terrestrial backhaul outside the MTN footprint.
  • Manage accurate and up-to-date OpCo capacity demand forecasts by collecting inputs from OpCos and sharing reports with the subsea cable team, sourcing and partner management, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the sourcing and partner management team to ensure capacity is purchased according to the needs of MTN OpCos.
  • Support OpCos in determining their international connectivity requirements based on usage trends, network reliability and redundancy needs.
  • Manage settlement toward OpCos relating to Bayobab capacity delivery and support Finance with the billing process.
  • Coordinate the delivery of international capacity requirements for OpCos by engaging relevant Bayobab teams and project managing requests.
  • Act as the central point of contact for ongoing OpCo support issues relating to submarine cable infrastructure, escalating issues appropriately and project managing fault resolution.
  • Identify Bayobab submarine connectivity pricing models by analysing the global competitive environment and gathering information on competitive international connectivity offers received by OpCos.
  • Gather OpCo terrestrial connectivity pricing, with a focus on wholesale components for backhaul and last-mile connectivity from cable landing stations.
  • Define overall Bayobab wholesale pricing across subsea and terrestrial segments in collaboration with OpCos, based on competitive and cost-plus pricing principles.
  • Support OpCos in defining internal wholesale pricing with OpCo Finance and Technology teams.
  • Support Product Management teams with product development and pricing relating to multi-OpCo infrastructure.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of international connectivity systems and architecture, including subsea systems, IP-MPLS, GSM, GPRS and other radio network elements.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers regarding service delivery capabilities and market trends that support OpCo requirements.
  • Ensure solutions comply with required SLAs, QoS thresholds and other service metrics, including Jitter and RTT.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of a four-year degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification such as an MBA or Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required; French is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant commercial experience in the fixed-line international telecommunications industry, preferably in enterprise or carrier business.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to anticipate demand and support investment decisions.
  • Working knowledge of business practices.
  • Knowledge of risk management and business development.
  • Ability to identify key issues and think creatively and strategically when addressing internal and external challenges.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Good understanding of the wholesale connectivity infrastructure landscape, particularly in emerging markets.
