Mikano International Limited is recruiting a Mechanic Supervisor to supervise and coordinate mechanical activities involving the inspection, maintenance, repair and overhaul of diesel generator sets.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to mechanics and technicians, ensuring safe and efficient operations, quality workmanship and reliable post-overhaul performance of generator sets.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate mechanical activities during genset engine overhauling.
- Develop and implement overhaul work plans, schedules, manpower requirements and job priorities.
- Lead the dismantling, inspection, repair, replacement and reassembly of diesel generator engines.
- Supervise the inspection of major engine components, including:
- Cylinder heads and valves.
- Pistons and piston rings.
- Cylinder liners.
- Crankshafts and main bearings.
- Connecting rods and bearings.
- Camshafts and timing components.
- Oil and water pumps.
- Turbochargers.
- Fuel injection components.
- Supervise valve setting, engine timing, injector installation and other critical adjustments.
- Ensure proper use and care of mechanical tools, lifting equipment and testing instruments.
- Ensure overhaul activities comply with OEM specifications, approved procedures, quality standards and company requirements.
- Monitor work progress to minimise equipment downtime and ensure jobs are completed on schedule.
- Provide technical guidance and support to mechanics and technicians.
- Identify mechanical faults and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
Requirements
- HND, B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant technical certification or professional qualification in diesel engines or generator maintenance is an advantage.
- 5–8 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience, with significant experience in diesel generator maintenance and overhauling.
- At least 2–3 years’ experience in a supervisory or lead technician role.
- Proven experience supervising complete engine overhauls.
- Strong knowledge of complete diesel engine dismantling, inspection, repair and reassembly.
- Expertise in preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of diesel generator sets.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, including overheating, low oil pressure, excessive smoke, abnormal vibration or noise and poor engine performance.
- Competence in inspecting pistons, liners, bearings, crankshafts, camshafts, cylinder heads, valves, connecting rods and timing components.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and technical supervision skills.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a technical maintenance environment.
