Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Job Purpose
The Mechanical Fitter will ensure that routine maintenance and planned preventive maintenance activities on machines are carried out strictly and on time to support the smooth and efficient operation of plant equipment.
Responsibilities
- Carry out routine lubrication of pumps, gearboxes, couplings and other mechanical components.
- Report daily activities to the Line Manager and Shift Coordinator to support the smooth running of machines and equipment.
- Strictly adhere to safe work procedures during repair and maintenance activities.
- Carry out daily and periodic checks on pumps, bolts and nuts to prevent misalignment of moving parts.
- Attend to unusual conditions affecting moving parts, including conveyors, and resolve issues promptly before they escalate.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams to determine assembly operations.
- Fit and assemble prefabricated metal parts to build heavy industrial machinery and equipment, including conveyors, elevators and pumps.
- Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors and hydraulic assemblies.
- Inspect parts, subassemblies and finished products to ensure quality.
- Take responsibility for assigned working tools and maintain accountability for them when required.
Requirements
- National Diploma (ND) in Mechanical Engineering or any related technical field.
- Minimum of two years’ cognate experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment.
