Job Title: Welder

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose

The Welder will fabricate, construct, install and repair equipment according to specified requirements to support optimum productivity and safe plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all job orders and requests are efficiently carried out.
• Calculate the quantity of materials required for each job order and submit it to the supervisor for appropriate requisition.
• Fabricate jobs according to design specifications.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on job requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting materials with powered saws to required measurements.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
• Align components using calipers, rulers and other measuring tools, and securely clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions, including vertical, horizontal and overhead.
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Take responsibility for assigned working tools and maintain accountability for them when required.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws.
• Maintain welding equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.

Requirements

• OND, NABTEB, C&G or WAEC Technical qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum of two years’ cognate experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production or FMCG environment.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
