Job Purpose

The Operations and Maintenance Technician will execute safe and efficient production operations and first-line maintenance activities on wells, facilities, equipment and associated systems. The role will contribute to maximising asset availability and achieving production targets through equipment inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair and production/process monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Operate oil and gas facilities, wells and associated assets safely and efficiently in line with approved procedures and HSSE requirements.
• Execute routine and minor non-routine production operations, first-line maintenance, equipment isolation, depressurisation and reinstatement activities.
• Carry out preventive, predictive, corrective and routine first-line maintenance on plant, process equipment and associated systems.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, diagnose and rectify equipment and process faults.
• Perform equipment servicing, installation, commissioning, calibration, adjustment and functional testing.
• Monitor plant and equipment performance and record field data.
• Identify potential equipment failures and opportunities for performance improvement.
• Measure, validate and accurately report production volumes and collect samples for analysis.
• Respond appropriately to plant and facility upsets and implement approved corrective actions.
• Interpret and apply technical drawings, schematics, manuals, classification drawings and instrument loop drawings.
• Implement approved recommendations to improve asset performance, reliability and integrity.
• Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance campaigns, equipment overhauls and related activities.
• Ensure non-routine and potentially hazardous work complies with Permit-to-Work requirements, approved procedures and HSSE standards.
• Conduct Unsafe Act/Unsafe Condition audits and implement or escalate corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of production, maintenance activities, equipment condition, faults, repairs, inspections and materials used.
• Safely operate and maintain tools, test equipment and workshop equipment.
• Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions, incidents and operational risks promptly.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across plant, facility and work areas.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, operators, contractors and other technical personnel to resolve operational and equipment-related issues.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in production, equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
• Comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, operating standards and HSSE requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

• An Ordinary National Diploma (OND/ND), Full Technological Certificate, Advanced Technical Diploma, relevant trade qualification or equivalent qualification.
• A qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, Electronics, Sciences or another relevant technical discipline.
• Relevant technical or professional certification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in technical maintenance, field operations and/or control room operations within an industrial, manufacturing, energy, oil and gas or similar environment.
• Experience in upstream production operations, petrochemical, manufacturing or industrial maintenance is an added advantage.
• Competence in the relevant technical discipline and assigned equipment.
• Understanding of preventive, corrective and first-line maintenance practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process failures and contribute to root-cause analysis.
• Competence in Permit-to-Work, task risk assessment and safe isolation practices.
• Ability to interpret operating manuals, technical drawings, procedures, work packs and method statements.
• Ability to accurately maintain operational, maintenance and integrity records.
• Good understanding of HSSE requirements, safety-critical equipment and operations management systems.
• Ability to conduct frontline equipment checks and Unsafe Act/Unsafe Condition audits.
• Readiness to work rotationally in onshore, swamp and/or offshore locations.
• Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas production facilities is an added advantage.
